New ProductOur new family of Auto Cal scales is now in production. These scales have the following benefits unavailable on our previous scales or those of other manufacturers:
RoHSThe European Directive RoHS (Directive 2002/95/EC on the
Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and
electronic equipment), is enforced throughout the European Community after July
1st , 2006. The directive aims to protect human health and the environment by
restricting the use of certain hazardous substances in new equipment. To comply
with the RoHS directive, the restricted use of Lead (Pb), Mercury (Hg), Cadmium
(Cd), Hexavalent Chromium (Cr 6+), Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB) and
Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE) must be ensured. Most of the products made by RL Scales come under Category 9, ”Monitoring and control instruments“ and are thus exempt from the RoHS directive. Some OEM products used in point of sale equipment must meet this directive, however, and we are actively pursuing compliance in all products as a result. Product identification As we make the transition, we will be using up our existing inventory and then replacing these parts with RoHS compliant. Part number for RoHS compliant parts have changed in some cases. In others, the RoHS compliance is identified by the product serial number.
